Crowmarsh L 1030
Crowmarsh will be pleased with an away win first game of the season against neighbours Benson. Crowmarsh were the quicker out of the blocks and by half time were 2 - 0 ahead with Benson's defence looking a little rusty. Second half Benson rallied with good runs from Miners and Beaumont, but the Crowmarsh keeper was up to the challange. Crowmarsh attacked quickly and more goals came with a hat-trick from Seares. Benson came into the game more and Stirling scored after a good move down the flanks  - a deserved goal for Benson. Perhaps a slightly flattering final score for Crowmarsh, but well done to both teams in a well contested game.

Benson 3 Crowmarsh 4 (friendly)

A well fought game with much of the better play coming from Benson who scored through Beaumont, Miners and Stirling. All of Benson's players gave everything and worked extermely hard - a positive sign for the season ahead. Finally though Crowmarsh's bigger squad told in the end and achieved victory with a deflected shot at the far post.

Player of the Day : Marcus Gardner

Benson
A much improved effort from Benson. We played more as a team and the training is beginning to pay off. Lara Althorp came back into the side after her holidays and gave a great performance in goal. Marcus Gardner and Aaron Aaltonen were alert in defence with Harry Miners and Sam Beaumont carrying on where they left off last week running at the opposition and causing them problems. Sam scored twice to give us a 2-0 half time lead.
Second half was dow hill and we were soon under pressure conceding an own goal. Ed Logan came on and gave a solid performance in midfield. But with just minutes remaining a break down the left and Kennington equalised through Torres (no relation apparently!)
Two games now and we are unlucky to have got only 1 point.

Kennington 0 Benson 5 (Harry Miners - 5)

Second game. Five goals from Harry Miners and a fluent, passing game from the whole team. We settled quickly, supported the players with the ball and worked our socks off.Great stuff!

Well done to all. Player of the day went to Aaron Aaltonon for his work rate, his tackling and his all round support to the team. Also played well in goal in the second game.

Berinsfield L 1030
A great effort and improved performance all round provided our first league win of the season. The team is growing in confidence and playing well. Berinsfield proved difficult to break down and themselves had a number of chances to score, but we stuck at our task and ran out deserved winners.

scorers - Sam Beaumont - 2, Harry Miners - 1

Benson 2 Berinsfield 0 (friendly)

Started where we left off the first game, and though we only had a squad of 7 for both matches, we continued to work hard, supporting each other in possession and attacking well.

scorers - Harry Miners - 1, Sam Beaumont - 1

Player of the Day: Edward Logan for his midfield prowess!

St. Edmunds C R1
First Game Lost 6 - 5 on penalties
A thrilling cup tie! Everyone worked tremendously hard to contain a physically much bigger St Eds team who went ahead in the game three times. Each time we fought ourselves level and at full-time it was 3 -3. The lottery of penalties decided the game

Second game - Lost 3 - 1
The stuffing had somewhat been knocked out of us after all the effort and penalty heartbreak in the first game. Having said that we played some good football and Aaron slotted home his first goal for the club.

Player of the Day: Lara Althorp for some great goal-keeping in the first game and good work in the second in defence, where she showed good composure on the ball.

Benson L
First Game  - Won 8 - 2
A resounding win, albeit against an under strength Northway. Goals aside, it was great to see that as a team we played well, playing the ball up from defence and making good passing moevments. We need to do this more week in, week out.

Second game - Drew 0 - 0
A more evenly fought contest, with several players rested. We continued to play good, passing football. Good entertainment all round.

Player of the Day: Sam Beaumont  - for flowing attacking play, good crosses into the box and goals!

Marston Saints L
First Game  - Lost 5-2
After last week's comfortable win, we met Saints who are flying at the top of the league with 28 goals scored already this season. Saints quickly went into a 3 - 0 lead with lively, attacking play. We struggled to cope and by half-time were 5 - 1 down. In the second half we worked much harder and got our tackles in more quickly, especially Ed! A good run by Harry ended in a penalty which he converted. Much better second half from us when we got tighter to their players. By scoring 2, we doubled the goals conceded by Saints this season.

Second game- Lost 1 - 0
An entertaining game which we lost through a later goal. Great to see so much effort.
We all enjoyed the sweets from Marston at the end! A great day's football despite the score lines.

Player of the Day: Jake Freear  - for a tenacious debut played with great enthusiasm.

Benson L
First game   - Won 6 - 5
A cracking game of football played in good spirit by both teams .  End to end football in a match that swung one way and then the other.
Benson got the win with four goals from Sam Beaumont and two from Matthew Stirling.

Second game - Won 2 - 1

Good football again was played. After going 1 -0 down form a corner we came back with goals from Harry and Matthew S

Player of the Day: Matthew Marriage - great effort, chased everything and unlucky not to score

St. Edmonds L
First game   - Won 3 - 2
Great to at last beat St Eds! 2-0 up at half time with goals from Harry and then a third added by Matthew S. We looked comfortable. Alex, Ed and Aaron worked hard and helped to close down St Eds attacking play. Sam had some terrific runs and was unlucky not to score. Their keeper played really well and without him, we may have scored more. We all played well. As we pushed for more we left ourselves short at the back. Kieran did his best to defend against 3 attackers but they scored, then added a second through a badly defended corner.  But we finished the stronger of the two teams. Great play and well done to everyone.

Second game - Won 2 - 1

Two goals from Matthew S, but again credit to all for a solid display. We picked up where we left off in the first game. Good debut from Thomas Preece.

Player of the Day: Alex Peake - showed real enthusiasm and worked hard for the team. Chased back into midfield when we were under pressure.
